About the Classroom

Our #1 Goal:
Students will foster deep conceptual understandings and strengthen procedural and fluency skills in mathematics by actively engaging and persevering in the problem-solving process. In this supportive and challenging environment, students will experience real-world applications, which will motivate them to make meaningful connections and recognize the importance of mathematics in their daily lives.

Our #1 Class Rule:

Homework:
Students are responsible for recording daily assignments and upcoming assessments in their trackers during class. This information will also be posted on Genesis.
Students who miss a HW assignment are responsible for recording the missed assignment on the provided log sheet in their binder.
Students will have one day to turn-in the HW assignment for partial credit. After one day, late assignments will not be accepted for credit.
Homework will be checked daily and graded on completion and evidence of effort based on a 10-point system.
o 10 – Complete/Evidence of Effort
o 7.5 – Partially Complete/Evidence of Some Effort
o 5 – One Day Late & Complete/Evidence of Effort
o 2.5 – One Day Late & Partially Complete/Evidence of Some Effort
o 0 – No credit

Absences:
Students are responsible for obtaining all missed classwork and homework from the “While You Were Out” Bin upon their return to school. They should also check-in with Ms. Ireland and get the class notes from a classmate.
Students are allotted the same number of days they were absent to complete missing homework assignments for credit. For example, 1 day absent = 1 day to make-up the homework.
Make-up homework must be submitted with our heading to the “Turn-In” Bin. If it is not turned in by the due date, it will be considered late and will receive a zero.
If students miss a quiz or test, they must set up a time with Ms. Ireland to make it up.
